Growing up in Denmark you learn to love the flavor of licorice, and especially salty licorice. I think Denmark is the only place on the planet, where people indulge in massive amounts of licorice. Licorice has a distinct and great flavor and the key therapeutic compound glycyrrhizin (which is 50 times sweeter than sugar) has many benefits for the body, as it can help treat many ailments. It seems to prevent the breakdown of adrenal hormones such as cortisol (the stress fighting hormone).
Licorice is one of those over looked herbal remedies, as it has been used for many ailments including asthma, athlete’s foot, baldness, body odour, bursitis, canker sores, chronic fatigue, depression, colds and flu, coughs, dandruff, emphysema, gingivitis and tooth decay, gout, heartburn, HIV, viral infections, fungal infections, ulcers, liver problems, Lyme disease, menopause, psoriasis, shingles, sore throat, tendinitis, tuberculosis, ulcers, yeast infections, prostate enlargement and arthritis. Licorice root contains many anti-depressant compounds and is an excellent alternative to St. John’s Wort.

INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups coconut, almond or rice milk
- 2 tsp raw vanilla powder
- 1/2 – 1 tsp licorice powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon or 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 cloves, ground (use a mortar)
- 1 tsp reishi
HOW TO MAKE
Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth and mixed well.
TO SERVE
Serve in a tall glass
